| Analytical
Services: Operates six Analytical Sections in addition
to a Sample Preparation Section. |
Asbestos
Testing, Analysis: Environmental
Laboratory Services announces the addition of asbestos testing and analysis and monitoring services. We provide quick, affordable
asbestos testing for building inspectors, environmental consultants
& investigators, home and building owners (including buyers
and sellers), insurance agents and realtors |
| Customized
OSHA, EPA & DOT Training: Environmental Laboratory
Services Teams with Environmental Technical Group to provide a variety of Health and Safety Training Courses. |
Government
and Industry: ELS is responsible for providing critical
testing for large municipal and industrial water systems, helping
to insure that whole populations are able to trust the purity
of their water supplies. |
| GC
(Gas Chromatography): Volatile and Semi-volatile organics
analyses. GC analysis is typically a less expensive alternative
to GC/MS in cases where a sample is suspected to contain pesticides,
PCBs, herbicides, petroleum hydrocarbons, or other organic contaminants.
GCs are equipped with autosamplers and integrated into computer
systems for accurate and efficient data output. GC analysis
is routinely used to analyze drinking water, groundwater, wastewater,
oils, soils, and wastes. |
GC/MS
(Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry): Volatile and
Semi-volatile organics analyses. GC/MS analysis is routinely
used to analyze groundwater, wastewater, drinking water, soils,
and wastes for industrial pollutants and suspected but unknown
organic contaminants. To accurately identify and quantify
organic compounds, the equipment in the GC/MS Section is unsurpassed.
GC/MS can easily accommodate custom analysis, as well as a
range of standard analyses. By definition, data produced by
this instrumentation includes both chromatography and unique
mass spectra of compounds. It is the unique spectra that assists
analysts in providing positive identification of compounds. |
| Home
Environment: ELS is certified
to test drinking water for property transactions and mortgages.
We can search for a large number of suspected pollutants including
lead, nitrates, nitrites, organics, and pesticides as well as
help to determine the cause and extent of water problems such
as hardness and odors. |
| Metals: Environmental Laboratory Services Metals Section utilizes
Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), Inductively
Coupled Plasma - Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES), and
Bacharach Cold Vapor Mercury Analyzers. The ICP-MS provides
the same low level detection limits of the older Graphite Furnace
Atomic Absorption Spectrometry instruments with the speed of
a multi-element ICP system. The ICP-MS provides part-per-trillion
detection levels. |
| Microbiology: Microbiology is equipped with bacteria incubators,
biological oxygen demand incubator, meters, autoclaves and other
microbiological equipment. Analyses include Coliform bacteria,
BODs, culture-based and non-culture based (direct microscopy)
analysis. Salmonella analysis is performed in composting and effluent
sludges, bacterial log reduction studies and antiseptic verification. |
| Sample
Preparation: Environmental Laboratory Services Sample
Preparation Section is equipped with hoods, hot plates, extraction
condensers, desiccators, tumblers for TCLP analysis, and balances,
along with all appropriate safety equipment. Sample preparation
in the Organics Section consists of performing semi-volatile
organic extractions by sonication, soxhlet extraction, liquid-liquid
extraction, or separatory funnel extraction. Digestion, distillation,
or filtration is performed for sample preparation in the Inorganics

| State
and Federal Regulations: ELS helps engineers, municipal
officials, and environmental managers meet state and federal
regulations governing waste, waste water, soil, ground water,
and air. |
| Training: ELS has been teamed with an in home training company to providing pertinent training to
industrial, commercial, and municipal clients for 15 years.
The compliance trainers and training programs are equipped to
certify many types of workers and managers in a variety of regulated
fields. In addition, we offer up-to-the minute informative seminars
for all types of professionals, custom designed to meet specific
client needs. Compliance Training, and Informative Seminars. |
| Waste
Water: State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System
- SPDES -- permit compliance, Pre- and Post- treatment sampling and testing, Discharge Monitoring and Rain-event Testing |
| Wet
Chemistry: The Wet Chemistry Section is equipped with
pH and conductivity meters, balances, turbidimeter, spectrophotometers
(VIS), and Lachat flow injection autoanalyzer. Testing for phosphorous,
chlorides, nitrates, phenols, oil and grease, and total suspended
solids are examples of analyses performed in this Analytical
Section of Environmental Laboratory Services. The Wet Chemistry
Section's autoanalyzer equipment is integrated into a computer
system to accurately and efficiently analyze unattended samples.
